TLDR:

  • Axis Communications is expanding the number of network physical security products certified to FIPS 140 standards to enhance cybersecurity measures.
  • New FIPS-compliant cryptographic hardware and software modules will be introduced for Axis devices, providing assurance to customers about the security level.

Axis Communications has taken significant steps to address cybersecurity concerns in network devices, particularly in the government and critical infrastructure sectors. The company plans to expand the number of network physical security products certified to meet Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140 standards, recognized as state-of-the-art security standards by the National Institute of Standards & Technology. This move aims to provide assurance to customers about the security level in Axis devices.

During 2024, Axis will introduce new FIPS-compliant cryptographic hardware and software modules for its devices. This will include the incorporation of NXP Semiconductors’ FIPS 140-3 Level 3-certified hardware cryptographic computing module. By adhering to the latest standard in device security, Axis devices will offer advanced protection for sensitive data like cryptographic keys.

Axis also plans to launch the AXIS OS 12 with a cryptographic software module providing FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification for more than 150 network devices. This certification ensures that high-security cryptographic algorithms are used to secure network connections, adding an extra layer of protection for customers.

Through collaboration with NXP Semiconductors, Axis aims to empower device security and provide cutting-edge cybersecurity features for customers. The long-term commitment to industry standards and FIPS 140-certified solutions demonstrates Axis’ dedication to improving customers’ cybersecurity postures and safeguarding sensitive data exchanged through network devices.
