Attendees of a recent cybersecurity workshop were given tips on protecting personal and client data. The program aims to link diverse suppliers with contracting opportunities related to the Super Bowl and provide professional networking and development programming.
The NFL is raising awareness of cybersecurity among small businesses in Las Vegas as part of its Super Bowl Business Connect program. The program, which is a collaboration between the NFL and the Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee, is designed to connect minority-, veteran-, woman-, and LGBTQ-owned small businesses to contracting opportunities related to the Super Bowl. This includes providing professional networking and development programming for program participants.
As part of the program, a cybersecurity workshop was held to provide tips and information on improving cybersecurity. The workshop was attended by more than 200 local small businesses, who learned about protecting personal and client data. Topics covered included how to be cyber safe, the frequency and cost of cyberattacks, and methods for improving cybersecurity, such as implementing multi-factor authentication and changing passwords.
The workshop featured presentations from cybersecurity experts, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Cisco, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Attendees also had the opportunity to network with representatives from 30 local corporations to discuss procurement needs related to the Super Bowl and beyond.
The involvement of CISA in the Super Bowl Business Connect program highlights the agency’s commitment to cybersecurity and its efforts to promote cyber safety. CISA is actively engaged in numerous activities leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, and its participation in the program is just one example of its ongoing work in this area.
