  • White House launches program to fill 500,000 cybersecurity job openings
  • Service for America aims to connect job candidates without traditional qualifications

The White House Office of the National Cyber Director has launched a program called Service for America to address the gap of around 500,000 available cybersecurity jobs in the country. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Personnel Management, aims to recruit and hire individuals for cybersecurity, technology, and artificial intelligence roles. National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr. emphasized the importance of reaching candidates without traditional qualifications and highlighted the opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to secure well-paying jobs in cybersecurity. The program is part of a broader national cybersecurity strategy to enhance the nation’s resilience against malicious cyberattacks and reduce job stress and burnout within the industry.

In addition to promoting efforts to train more students in cybersecurity, the White House has also provided links to job recruitment fairs and related programs taking place through mid-October. Federal internships, apprenticeship programs, and other information about federal jobs are available through the program. The primary goal of the program is to bridge the skills gap in the cybersecurity sector by offering opportunities to individuals with varied backgrounds and experiences.
